In August 2013, Nathan organised and participated in a 24 hour cycling challenge for charity. Logan Berry’s is a Cafe in the heart of RIley’s Square, Bell Green, Coventry, a homely spot for the local community to tuck into a wholesome breakfast and hot cup of tea. Logan Berry’s is a keen supporter of the Air Ambulance charity and homed a donations box. Unfortunately, the generosity of the cafe and its customers fell victim to an act of theft.
Gavin, the manager, and friend Nathan, in the wake of this devastating act of delinquency took the liberty of holding a charity event to raise above and beyond the original money collected. Gavin and Nathan organised a 24 hour ‘Big Berry Bike Ride’ and raised a staggering £400 from sponsorship and donations. It wasn’t easy and the pair trained hard in preparation, but it paid off! Not only did they hold this event, but together they united the community together with a charity auction: local shops offered services to be auctioned such as a £35 sports massage and a family pass to the Coventry Blaze ice hockey matches.
In the face of an act of unkindness and greed, this community was pulled together by two of Coventry’s citizens and a couple of bikes. Go Gav and Nathan!
