This photograph was taken just twelve hours before my Nana passed away earlier this year. This is my Grandad: I witnessed his pain over the weeks leading up to this day and, as cynical as it may be, I documented this.
Retrieving my photographs of this time is not only difficult, but it is valuable, as it brings back the feeling of how much we all miss my Nana dearly. Therefore, it makes me more sympathetic when I shoot her vanity case; as though I am taking a portrait of her.
This Christmas I will be revisiting the anxieties of the Christmas before and paying tribute to her life with the creation of a precious book.
